About Maclean Stonemasonry
Our Story
Beginning my career in oban, I started my apprenticeship with a local stonemasonry company, working mainly on heritage buildings and country estates which gave me a good base on which I could build my skills as a stonemason on top of what I learned at college.
following the company directors retirement, I moved to Inverness to continue my apprenticeship where I was able to participate in large commercial projects such as new whisky distilleries, churches and cathedrals, listed buildings and monuments and new estate houses. I was also involved in smaller private works such as setting out, foundations, blockwork and claddings for new builds, repairs and restorations of private houses, heritage Lime pointing and harling. This experience in the trade gave me a unique understand which was highlighted by gaining apprentice of the year for several years of college and leading a squad of masons and apprentices whilst still an apprentice myself. Following my 4 year apprenticeship I continued to work in Inverness, learning and improving as a tradesman until I moved back to oban in 2021 to start my own business taking my skills and work ethic to deliver high quality masonry services to oban and argyll

My approach to all of my projects is to apply my knowledge of the trade to the customers idea. I aim to bring plans drawing and ideas to life and do so with clear and simple communication and a devotion to completing jobs in a timely manner
